Three Uzbek Boxers Advance to Next Round of World Championship

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On the second day of the World Boxing Championship, three representatives of Uzbekistan advanced to the next round of the tournament.

In the 57 kg weight category, Khumorabonu Mamajonova convincingly defeated New Zealander Lai-Carlilu Ali with a score of 5:0. She will compete in her next bout on September 7.

In the 50 kg category, Shodiyorjon Melikuziev stopped Nawaf Awajah of Saudi Arabia by technical knockout in the second round. In the round of 16 on September 9, he will face Australian boxer Omer Izaz.

Jakongir Zakirov also delivered a strong performance in the over-90 kg category, defeating Algerian Murad Kadi by a unanimous decision of the judges, 5:0.
