The first block train from Tashkent to Fuzhou launched
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 23 May, Mamambiy Omarov, First Deputy Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan, met with a Chinese delegation led by Zhao Long, Governor of Fujian Province.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in transportation, transit, and logistics. Governor Zhao Long emphasized Fujian Province’s interest in expanding cooperation with Uzbekistan in trade and economic relations, investment, and scientific and technological innovation, leveraging advantages in new energy technologies, petrochemicals, electronics, and the digital economy.
Mamambiy Omarov noted the positive growth in mutual cargo transportation, with volumes reaching a record 6 million tons by the end of 2024. Large-scale joint projects are being implemented, including the construction of roads, airports, transport and logistics centers, and the procurement of electric buses for public transport.
Special attention was given to the launch of the first block train on the route “Tashkent – Fuzhou,” which connects the overland and maritime Silk Roads, opening new opportunities for advancing the “One Belt, One Road” initiative.
At the conclusion of the event, the parties took part in a ceremonial send-off of the train, consisting of 50 containers filled with products from Uzbek manufacturers. Mamambiy Omarov highlighted that this route symbolizes Uzbekistan’s growing export potential and marks a new stage in the development of transport ties with China.
