Tax contributions from foreign IT companies in Uzbekistan increased by 42%

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the first quarter of 2025, tax revenues from foreign IT companies in Uzbekistan increased by almost 1.5 times, according to a press release from the Tax Committee.

The tax payments of 68 foreign companies providing electronic services amounted to 36.2 billion soums (a 42% increase) or US$2.79 million at the current exchange rate. Of this sum, 94.5% of the revenue came from the top ten largest IT companies.

The volume of services provided also grew by 47%, rising from 208.6 billion to 306.6 billion soums. Since the beginning of 2025, six new foreign IT companies have registered with the tax authorities: Alibaba Cloud, eBay, Bloomberg LP, OpenAI, DigitalOcean, and ivi.ru.

In terms of tax payments, Apple was the leader in the first quarter, paying 10.67 billion soums. Meta ranked second with 10.51 billion soums. These two companies accounted for half of all services and tax contributions.

Google came in third place with 8.93 billion soums. For the first time, OpenAI (1.09 billion soums) and the blocked TikTok (934.8 million soums) made it to the top five.

Other companies on the list included: Booking.com (542.7 million soums), Netflix (467.6 million soums), Zoom (432.6 million soums), Acca (427 million soums), and Xsolla (235.6 million soums).
