Tashkent to Eliminate Power Grid Limitations and Create “Electric Ring” by 2030
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Tashkent plans to remove existing limitations in its power grid and actively develop its energy infrastructure, Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services Sherzod Khidoyatov told “Uzbekistan 24” TV channel.
According to him, during a meeting on 8 August, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave clear instructions for implementing all measures outlined in the capital’s power network development strategy through 2030.
The minister noted that the head of state tasked authorities with eliminating current electricity supply restrictions, expanding networks, and completing the full scope of works by the 2030 deadline. A relevant presentation has already been held.
Khidoyatov said that this year a system will be introduced to remove existing constraints and create an “electric ring” — a closed-loop power supply system ensuring stable electricity delivery across all districts of the city.
To prevent power outages, instructions have been issued to implement a digital management system that takes into account transformer and substation loads and includes specific measures to optimize network operations.
The minister also stressed that from now on, when granting construction permits for residential, commercial, or other facilities, the required electricity volume will be assessed in advance. This demand must be fully met, and projects will be implemented with the necessary capacity in mind.
In cooperation with the Ministry of Energy, this work will be integrated and digitalized: technical conditions for grid connection will be issued online, and construction processes will be coordinated with guaranteed electricity supply at all stages.
