Strong Demand for Leather Footwear in Afghanistan: US$9.5 Million Export Contract Signed
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of a business delegation organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan to the city of Mazar-i-Sharif, major negotiations were held to boost the export potential of Uzbekistan’s leather and footwear industry, expand into new markets, and strengthen ties with international investors.
During the visit, the Uzbek Association "Uzcharmsanoat" and industry enterprises conducted B2B meetings with leading Afghan companies and entrepreneurs. The discussions focused on expanding trade and economic cooperation, attracting foreign direct investment, and increasing exports of industrial products.
A key outcome of the visit was the signing of a US$9.5 million contract between Afghan company AFGAN CYBER and the Uzbek firm KASHIF FERGHANI LTD. Under the agreement, various models of leather footwear will be exported to the Afghan market. This deal reflects the growing recognition and international reputation of Uzbekistan’s leather and footwear products.
The visit also included a meeting with Ahmad Aymal, head of AYSAN, a company that supplies specialized footwear to Afghanistan’s Ministry of Interior. He expressed strong interest in Uzbek products and confirmed his readiness to engage in future cooperation.
Prominent Afghan businessman Ajan Habibi also showed interest in Uzbek leather goods and voiced his intention to establish a partnership. Meanwhile, SY HORIZON announced plans to purchase Uzbek footwear and is preparing for a business trip to Uzbekistan.
The meetings in Mazar-i-Sharif not only resulted in a substantial export agreement but also helped strengthen Uzbekistan’s image as a reliable partner in the Afghan leather and footwear market. With demand for leather goods on the rise, such partnerships carry strategic importance for the industry's continued growth.
