Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Tashkent region, a state enforcement officer from the Bureau of Forced Execution (MIB) in Bekabad city has been detained on bribery charges, the State Security Service said.

According to the investigation, the 35-year-old employee, abusing his official position, demanded 20 million soums from a resident of Bekabad district in exchange for lifting a travel ban abroad imposed due to alimony arrears. He was caught red-handed receiving 13 million soums.

It was revealed that he had previously received US$450 USD and 1.3 million soums for a similar "service."

The Bekabad District Court found him guilty under paragraph “v” of part 2 of Article 210 and paragraph “v” of part 3 of Article 168 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan.

The former official was sentenced to six years in prison and banned from holding managerial and financially responsible positions in law enforcement agencies and state-affiliated organizations for two years.
