Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In March 2025, the Business Activity Index (BAI), calculated by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms, reached 1190 points, showing a significant increase of 19% compared to the previous month. Additionally, a 29.2% rise in the BAI was recorded compared to the same period of  last year.

In March 2025, the Business Activity Index saw a substantial 19% increase compared to the previous month.

Changes were observed in the components of the BAI as follows:

The number of transactions in the bank accounts of business entities decreased by 3.0%.

The intensity of raw material procurement on the commodity and raw materials exchange significantly increased by 47.8%.

The component related to active business entities rose by 4.6%.

The trademark component decreased by 3.7%.

In regional terms, Syrdarya region showed the highest growth.

In March 2025, the Business Activity Index increased across 14 regions compared to the previous month.

In particular, Syrdarya (45.5%), Andijan (42.8%), Kashkadarya (42.2%), Jizzakh (41.1%), and Bukhara (40.4%) regions showed significant growth.

The number of interbank payment transactions in March 2025 amounted to 5,923.8 thousand, decreasing by 184.4 thousand transactions (a 3% drop) compared to February 2025.

In 9 regions, the number of bank transactions decreased compared to the previous month.

In March 2025, the number of bank transactions between legal entities increased in 5 regions compared to the previous month. Significant growth was observed in Syrdarya (7.0%), Andijan (4.4%), and Bukhara (3.0%) regions.

This indicator also decreased in Ferghana (7.2%), Surkhandarya (7.1%) regions, and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (4.1%).

In March 2025, the exchange component of the BAI was 1.4786. This represents a 47.8% increase compared to the previous month. This growth is linked to a significant reduction in the average physical volume of goods purchased in each transaction by 12.5% and a 2.1-fold increase in the number of transactions.

At the Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange, the total turnover in March 2025 amounted to 7,389.1 billion soums, which is 9.8% more compared to the previous month.

The component for active business entities in March 2025 was 1.0460, showing a 4.6% increase compared to the previous month. Additionally, this figure rose by 6.2% compared to the same period last year.

The number of active business entities in March 2025 increased by 3,115 units compared to February 2025 (466,181 units), reaching 469,296 units.

The number of large enterprises increased by 642 units.

During the reporting period, the number of small enterprises grew from 370,364 to 372,887 units, a rise of 2,523 units.

The number of farming entities decreased from 91,775 to 91,725 units, a reduction of 50 units. The number of active large enterprises reached 4,684 units, an increase of 642 units compared to February 2025.

In March 2025, the trademark index stood at 0.9631, representing a 3.7% decline compared to the previous month. During the current month, 339 trademarks and trade names were registered by legal entities.
