Shavkat Mirziyoyev honors 73-year-old female farmer from Khorezm for contribution to agriculture development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During his visit to Khorezm Region, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the farm "Sobirjon Yusup," located in the Khankhan District.

The farm is led by 73-year-old Oyimjon Otajanova, who has dedicated over four decades to growing saplings. On three hectares of land, she cultivates fruit and ornamental trees, while an additional two hectares are devoted to an orchard. A 12-acre greenhouse is home to around 40 varieties of flowers. The farm is equipped with water-saving technologies, ensuring individual microclimates for various plants.

The farming business has become a family affair: thanks to Oyimjon-ona’s efforts, more than 50,000 saplings are sold annually, with income exceeding 1 billion soums. The products are supplied not only to neighboring districts but also to Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.

The farm is located in the Guliston neighborhood, home to over 7,000 people. Oyimjon Otajanova has become a role model for hard work and initiative, inspiring women and youth. She has trained over 200 students and provided sapling cultivation skills to 300 unemployed individuals, fostering close collaboration with the local community.

Otajanova is also actively involved in public initiatives. This year, she donated 2,000 pine saplings to local schools and kindergartens, supporting the national project "Yashil Makon" (Green Area).

Near the farm, with support from the Ministry of Employment and a bank, an educational center has been established to teach residents how to use household plots for year-round income. This initiative boosts entrepreneurial activity and improves living standards in local communities.

For her outstanding contribution to agriculture and active civic engagement, President Mirziyoyev awarded Oyimjon Otajanova the honorary title "Honored Worker of Agriculture of Uzbekistan."
