Roskachestvo and Uztest agree to collaborate on organic product standardization

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Russia’s Roskachestvo and Uzbekistan’s Center for Scientific Testing and Quality Control “Uztest” have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening economic ties between the two countries, simplifying trade procedures, and increasing consumer confidence in organic products, according to a Roskachestvo press release.

The main goal of the agreement is to harmonize national standards in the field of organic production, enabling mutual recognition of conformity certificates in the future. This step is expected to reduce administrative barriers for exports and create new business opportunities for both sides.

The document was signed by Alexander Chumak, Deputy Head of Roskachestvo, and Javlon Kattakhodjaev, Director of Uztest.

The agreement also includes provisions for expert exchange. The parties committed to holding joint seminars, training sessions, and conferences on current issues related to standardization and certification. This collaboration will help Uzbek specialists better integrate into international practices, while allowing Russian experts to deepen engagement with Central Asian professionals. Furthermore, both parties will exchange information on legislative developments and technical documentation to ensure transparency in procedures and requirements.

Special attention is given to cooperation in laboratory testing. Uzbek laboratories will be able to undergo proficiency testing in Russia through interlaboratory comparison trials in areas such as food, textiles, and cosmetics. “This will enhance the accuracy of research and, in the long term, help establish a unified methodological framework for both countries,” the Roskachestvo statement emphasized.
