RES refutes rumors on mandatory solar panel installation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Regional Electric Networks (RES) has dismissed rumors regarding the alleged mandatory installation of solar panels for households with high energy consumption.
Recent social media posts claimed that authorities were compiling lists of families consuming over 1,000 kWh per month and that these households would be forced to install solar panels.
However, RES officially denied these claims, stating that no such data collection is taking place and that no decision has been made on mandatory solar panel installations.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan has launched a large-scale initiative to equip residential buildings and businesses with solar panels, as confirmed by the General Prosecutor’s Office.
Deputy Prosecutor General Shokhrukh Aminov stated that by 2025, at least 40% of the private sector, small businesses, and social facilities must switch to alternative energy sources. He assured that the goal would be fully achieved.
During a recent meeting, it was announced that solar panels would be installed on 100,000 public facilities and 150,000 private homes, in line with a presidential directive.
The General Prosecutor’s Office has been tasked with overseeing the installation of solar panels and water heaters, following a presidential decree signed on February 7.
