President of Uzbekistan proposes new agenda for business cooperation with Hungary

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The program of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to Hungary began with negotiations involving leaders of the country’s largest business entities, including top managers and founders of OTP Bank, BDPST Group, 4iG, Indotek, MVM, Duna Group, MOL Group, H2O Consortium, Inpark, Wizz Air, and others.

In his address, the Uzbek leader highlighted the symbolic importance of starting the visit with a dialogue with Hungarian business representatives, emphasizing the successful growth of Hungarian investments in Uzbekistan’s economy. It was noted that OTP Bank has established a strong position in Uzbekistan’s financial market after acquiring a major local bank, and plans were announced to create a joint venture aimed at developing auto lending, supporting business financing, and building a large poultry cluster.

To expand industrial cooperation, a special industrial zone is being established in the Tashkent region, which will be managed by the Hungarian company Inpark. This step is seen as a significant move to attract European technologies and investments.

The President outlined key priorities for developing the economic partnership: co-financing joint projects, supporting exports to third-country markets, and strengthening transport links, including increasing freight transportation and developing direct air connections between the two countries.

Hungarian businessmen expressed interest in implementing new projects and presented proposals for expanding cooperation. During the meeting, agreements were reached on several fronts — modernization of transport and road infrastructure, construction of logistics centers, development of utility networks, as well as production of construction materials, textiles, chemical products, and pharmaceuticals.

In conclusion, President Mirziyoyev proposed making such meetings a regular practice to further strengthen business ties between Uzbekistan and Hungary.

The event concluded with a signing ceremony for agreements on the implementation of priority investment projects, held in the presence of the President.
