President of Uzbekistan meets Speaker of Hungary’s National Assembly
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 20 May, during his official visit to Budapest, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with László Kövér, Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary.
The discussions focused on the prospects for further strengthening Uzbek-Hungarian relations and strategic partnership, including in the sphere of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Both sides noted the high frequency of reciprocal visits and meetings between parliamentary delegations of the two countries. In April this year, Deputy Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly János Latorcai participated in the 150th anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Tashkent.
In the coming months, visits to Uzbekistan by the Deputy Speaker and Chair of the Economic Committee of the Hungarian Parliament are planned, as well as a visit of the Uzbek parliamentary delegation to Budapest.
Special attention was given to the need for effective implementation of signed bilateral agreements, the revitalization of inter-parliamentary friendship groups, and the establishment of regular exchanges between relevant committees. This will foster experience-sharing in legislative practices, particularly in areas such as regional development, social protection, taxation, and digitalization.
