Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Following the intervention of competent authorities, a recalculation was ensured in favor of business entities in Jizzakh region, resulting in the reimbursement of over 1.8 billion soums in unjustified natural gas debt.

In recent months, the Committee and its regional branches have seen a growing number of appeals from entrepreneurs regarding incorrect charges for natural gas consumption.

One such case involved the company “Jizzakh Yo‘l Qurilish Ta’mirlash” LLC, which filed a complaint against the Jizzakh branch of the gas supplier “Hududgaz Jizzakh.” A service inspection revealed that the company had been erroneously charged 726 million 314 thousand soums, as volumes of gas that were never actually consumed were recorded on the subscriber’s account.

As a result, the charges were corrected in favor of the company, and a case was opened against the gas supply branch. Based on the findings, appropriate orders and disciplinary actions were issued.

A similar issue was discovered with the Uzbek-Chinese joint venture “Sofitel,” located in the city of Jizzakh. An investigation found that “Hududgaz Jizzakh” had applied the set tariff twice, leading to an incorrect debt charge of 1 billion 107 million 914 thousand soums.

Following a review, a special commission deemed the charges unjustified and ordered a recalculation in favor of the enterprise. Disciplinary proceedings have also been launched against the responsible employees.

These incidents highlight the critical need for tighter oversight to ensure the accuracy of billing and the protection of entrepreneurs’ rights.
