Over 1,000 People Killed in Landslide in Sudan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A large-scale natural disaster has struck Sudan, where a massive landslide claimed the lives of more than 1,000 people, Reuters reported.
According to preliminary data, dozens of settlements have been partially or completely destroyed, with many roads and communication lines damaged.
Rescue services and local residents continue search and rescue operations, but severe weather conditions and the destroyed infrastructure are hampering access to affected areas.
The Sudanese authorities have declared a state of emergency and appealed for international assistance to deal with the aftermath of the tragedy, including providing temporary housing, food, and medical aid to victims.
