Navbakhor Khamidova Claims Silver at World Boxing Championships in Liverpool
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Navbakhor Khamidova secured a silver medal at the World Boxing Championships in Liverpool.
In the final bout, the Uzbek fighter faced Kazakhstan’s Aida Abikeeva.
Khamidova started confidently, edging the opening round 3–2 on the judges’ scorecards. In the second round, both athletes increased the pace, but the Uzbek was more accurate, extending her lead to 4–1.
However, fatigue took its toll in the decisive round, allowing Abikeeva to seize the initiative. The judges unanimously awarded the victory to the Kazakh boxer.
With Khamidova’s result, Uzbekistan’s tally at the Liverpool World Championships now stands at five gold, one silver, and three bronze medals.
