Moderate Growth in Uzbekistan’s Business Activity Index Recorded in August
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Business Activity Index (BAI) reached 1,029 points in August 2025, marking a 2.9% increase compared to July. On a year-on-year basis, growth amounted to 30.9%, according to the Center for Economic Research and Reforms.
The positive trend was driven by increased activity on the commodities exchange (+14.2%) and a rise in the number of active business entities (+0.4%). At the same time, a decline was observed in the number of banking transactions (–7%) and trademark registrations (–15%).
Among regions, the highest BAI growth was recorded in Syrdarya (+72.3%), Navoi (+45.5%), and Andijan (+38.3%) regions, as well as in Tashkent (+36.7%). Decreases were noted in Khorezm (–11.5%), Jizzakh (–11.0%), the Republic of Karakalpakstan (–7.5%), Surkhandarya (–6.0%), and Bukhara (–5.5%).
Experts emphasize that the sustained year-on-year growth of the BAI reflects positive trends in the country’s economic activity and business environment.
