Miahona Signs Agreements to Upgrade Pumping Stations and Water Supply Systems in Karakalpakstan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Miahona has signed two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to implement new projects in Uzbekistan.
On 4 September, Miahona Co. concluded two MoUs outlining cooperation in strategic water infrastructure development.
According to a company statement released via Tadawul, the first memorandum was signed with the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Water Resources of Uzbekistan. It covers the rehabilitation and/or replacement of a number of irrigation pumping stations in Karakalpakstan under a long-term “rehabilitate–operate–transfer” (ROT) model.
The second memorandum was concluded with the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade, the Jokargy Kenes of Karakalpakstan, and JSC Uzsuvtaminot. It focuses on cooperation in studying and developing infrastructure for drinking water and wastewater treatment, as well as water supply systems in Karakalpakstan.
At the development stage, the parties will identify the most suitable long-term business model for each project. The agreements aim to strengthen Miahona’s position in Uzbekistan, with a special focus on strategic water infrastructure in Karakalpakstan.
The first MoU lays the foundation for cooperation in modernizing and operating irrigation networks, while the second paves the way for new projects in drinking water treatment and distribution, as well as wastewater management in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
Miahona noted that the memorandums will remain in effect for one year or a later date mutually agreed by the parties. The financial impact will be determined after due diligence procedures are completed.
These agreements align with Miahona’s strategy to expand internationally and reinforce its market position by delivering sustainable water solutions, building on its existing projects in the Kingdom.
Last September, Miahona signed a cooperation agreement with Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade and JSC Uzsuvtaminot, setting the framework for developing water treatment facilities for drinking water and wastewater in the Fergana Valley and Jizzakh region.
