Meeting held in Ljubljana between President of Uzbekistan and Speaker of the National Assembly of Slovenia
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of his official visit to the Republic of Slovenia, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Urška Klakočar Zupančič, Speaker of the National Assembly of Slovenia.
During the discussion, particular attention was given to expanding multifaceted cooperation, including the activation of inter-parliamentary interaction. It was emphasized that in recent years there has been positive progress in the area of parliamentary exchanges. Notably, in April of this year, Predrag Baković, Chairman of a commission of the Slovenian National Assembly, participated in the 150th anniversary session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly held in Tashkent.
The parties highlighted the significance of the “friendship groups” established within the parliaments of both countries and underlined the importance of cooperation between specialized committees to effectively support joint projects and initiatives.
There was expressed readiness to strengthen parliamentary support for humanitarian programs—specifically, the organization of cultural and film days, exhibitions, and the development of academic exchanges between universities in Uzbekistan and Slovenia.
The importance of coordinating positions and providing mutual support within international parliamentary structures was especially noted.
To systematize and deepen inter-parliamentary dialogue, a proposal was made to hold the first Uzbek-Slovenian Inter-Parliamentary Forum in Samarkand with the participation of deputies and experts. Following the talks, an agreement was reached to develop and adopt a joint “roadmap” for further parliamentary cooperation.
