Legislative Chamberapproves support measures for fruit and vegetable producers
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In its second reading, the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis reviewed and approved a draft law aimed at strengthening state support for entities engaged in the cultivation of fruit and vegetable products.
It was noted during the session that Uzbekistan is consistently implementing measures to ensure food security, establish orchards and vineyards using intensive technologies, develop greenhouse farming, increase the volume of agricultural production and processing, boost export potential, and create high-income jobs in the agricultural sector.
The draft law proposes amendments and additions to the Law “On State Duties,” which would exempt the Agency for Agro-Industrial Development under the Ministry of Agriculture from paying state duties on lawsuits and complaints filed in defense of its own rights, as well as the interests of entities involved in the production and processing of fruit and vegetable products, including greenhouse farms.
During the preparation of the bill for its second reading, the responsible committee brought its provisions into full alignment with existing legislation—particularly the Law “On State Duties”—taking into account the suggestions of deputies and sectoral experts.
Lawmakers believe the adoption of this law will enhance the country’s food security, foster more favorable conditions for the sustainable development of the fruit and vegetable sector, and attract investment into the agro-industrial complex.
Following the discussion, the bill was passed by the deputies.
