Legislative Chamber Approves Law on Improving Atomic Energy Governance

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis considered a draft law aimed at improving the system of state governance and oversight in the use of atomic energy.

The draft law provides for the enhancement of state management and control in the field of atomic energy and its alignment with international standards. In particular, the Agency for Atomic Energy under the Cabinet of Ministers is designated as the sole authorized body responsible for implementing state policy in this area.

In addition, amendments are introduced to bring the names of state bodies, ministries, and agencies, as well as legal terminology, into conformity with current legislation. According to legal-technical standards, relevant adjustments are made to clarify norms and ensure their harmonization.

During the discussions, it was noted that significant work was carried out by the responsible committee in preparing the draft law for the second reading: all proposals from political party factions were carefully analyzed, and the majority were incorporated into the text of the document.

It was emphasized that the adoption of this law will contribute to further improving the legal framework for the use of atomic energy, ensuring effective state governance and oversight, and fostering development in this sector in accordance with modern requirements.

The draft law was adopted in its second reading.
