KazMunayGas and Uzbekneftegaz Discuss Expansion of Strategic Partnership
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting took place in Kazakhstan’s capital between Askhat Khasenov, Chairman of the Board of JSC NC KazMunayGas, and Bakhtiyor Ibragimov, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan.
The discussions focused on strengthening strategic cooperation between the national oil and gas companies of the two countries.
According to KazMunayGas, the partnership with JSC Uzbekneftegaz covers key industry areas, including geological exploration, oil and gas production, refining, petrochemicals, digital technology implementation, and industrial safety.
“Thanks to the support of the leadership of both states, cooperation between the national companies is steadily developing and acquiring a strategic character,” noted Askhat Khasenov.
The parties reviewed the implementation of the cooperation agreement signed in March 2025. The companies are exploring opportunities to launch joint projects in geological exploration and petrochemicals in both Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
A working group has been established to coordinate efforts, which has already created a shared information platform and organized the exchange of geological and technical data.
Special attention was given to joint initiatives in petrochemicals. One of the priority projects will be the production of linear alkylbenzene (LAB). Additionally, the parties are examining potential cooperation in polymer processing and the supply of finished products, which experts believe will lay the groundwork for the formation of a common regional market.
KazMunayGas also showcased its achievements in industrial safety, including an electronic permit-to-work system implemented across its enterprises to monitor high-risk operations. In June, an Uzbekneftegaz delegation visited the KPI plant to study Kazakhstani company’s advanced digital solutions.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their intention to expand cooperation across all key areas and develop joint projects of strategic importance for the oil and gas sector of the two countries.
