Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya will visit Uzbekistan on 26–27 August. This marks the first visit by the head of Japan’s foreign ministry to the country in the past three years.

During the visit, he is scheduled to meet with Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtier Saidov. The two sides will hold the first strategic dialogue at the level of foreign ministry leaders, discussing further cooperation in politics, the economy, culture, and joint responses to international challenges.

Minister Iwaya emphasized that Tokyo will continue supporting Uzbekistan’s economic reforms, contributing to infrastructure development, the implementation of green technologies, workforce training, and improving the quality of social services. “I have long dreamed of visiting Uzbekistan and am glad this opportunity has finally arisen,” the minister said.

He also highlighted that relations between the two countries have deep historical roots and continue to develop on the basis of friendship and mutual trust.

Takeshi Iwaya expressed confidence that his visit will become an important step in strengthening strategic partnership and provide a new impetus for the development of bilateral and multilateral projects.
