Iran, India, and Uzbekistan Held First Trilateral Political Consultations in Tehran
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The first trilateral meeting of political consultations between Iran, India, and Uzbekistan took place in Tehran, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
The Iranian delegation was headed by Mohammad Reza Bahrami, Director General for South Asia at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Indian delegation was led by Anand Prakash, Joint Secretary of India’s Ministry of External Affairs, while the Uzbek delegation was represented by Gulamjon Primkulov, Head of the Department for Cooperation with South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa at Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to Iran’s Foreign Ministry, all parties expressed satisfaction with the meeting and emphasized the importance of holding such consultations regularly and annually to safeguard mutual interests and promote prosperity in the region.
During the session, participants focused on expanding cooperation in transport and logistics, particularly through strategic use of ports and the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC). Progress in implementing the decisions of the third meeting of the Chabahar Working Group, held in November 2024 in Mumbai, was also noted.
In addition, the parties discussed measures to enhance trade relations and other areas of mutual interest, as well as exchanged views on regional security and mechanisms to counter extremism and terrorism.
