Future Jadid Heritage Museum project unveiled in Bukhara
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of the Bukhara Biennale, the project for the Jadid Heritage Museum, designed by renowned Lebanese architect Lina Ghotmeh, was presented.
The museum is scheduled to open in 2027 and will be housed in the residence of Usmon Khojaev, part of the historic Lyabi-Hauz complex. The mansion, closely associated with the Jadid movement, was in the early 20th century one of the key centers for shaping ideas of enlightenment and cultural renewal.
Preserving its unique architecture and the atmosphere of its era, the building will be transformed into a modern museum space that will include exhibition halls, an archive, and educational facilities. The museum is envisioned as a platform for studying, promoting, and reinterpreting the history of Jadidism, as well as fostering dialogue between the past and the present.
The project highlights Bukhara’s role as a cultural hub and as a custodian of traditions that significantly influenced the development of enlightenment in Central Asia.
