Fines Imposed on 23 Banks and 2 Microfinance Organizations for Violations of Anti-Money Laundering Requirements
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Banking Supervision Committee of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan reviewed 59 issues during 11 meetings held in June–July 2025 and adopted corresponding decisions.
In the area of registration and licensing, 37 matters were considered, including registration of amendments to the charters of credit institutions (7 cases), registration of newly established microfinance organizations (5), issuance of permits to acquire shares in the authorized capital of credit institutions (2), preliminary permission for microfinance bank operations (1), issuance of auditor qualification certificates for bank audits (2), as well as the consideration of candidates for supervisory boards, management boards, and key personnel of commercial banks (20).
Additionally, 22 issues were discussed relating to the financial condition of credit organizations, compliance with regulatory requirements and Central Bank instructions, inspection results at banks and microfinance institutions, and measures to combat money laundering, terrorism financing, and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
Fifteen payment organizations received warnings about the application of measures and sanctions due to failure to comply with legislation on the minimum charter capital size for payment system operators and organizations, as well as violations identified during inspections.
Following inspections and due to breaches of anti-money laundering, terrorism financing, and WMD proliferation rules, fines were imposed on 23 banks and two microfinance organizations.
In particular, due to identified violations, the company IMKON FINANS MIKROMOLIYA TASHKILOTI JSC had its client financing operations suspended for three months, including lending, leasing, issuing guarantees, and providing factoring services.
