Ferghana Watermelons Reach Poland
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the first eight months of this year, Ferghana region exported 16,000 tons of watermelons, generating over US$3.5 million, according to the regional administration.
The regional customs service reported that more than 60 entrepreneurs exported watermelons to the UAE, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Belarus, and Kyrgyzstan in 815 shipments. Russia and Kyrgyzstan account for roughly 20% of the total export volume.
Notably, the export geography has expanded, and Ferghana watermelons are now reaching Poland.
For comparison, in the first eight months of 2024, the region exported 6,589 tons of watermelons worth US$1.6 million, meaning this year’s export volume has increased more than 2.2 times.
