Ferghana region governor discusses textile industry development and skills training with German partners

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Governor of Ferghana Region, Khayrullo Bozorov, held a meeting with representatives of the Confederation of the German Knitting Industry (Gesamtmasche) and the international development cooperation organization Sequa.

Both organizations are internationally recognized as reliable partners with extensive experience in training, retraining, and upskilling mid-level specialists, and have successfully implemented projects across various countries.

The discussions focused on improving the qualifications of textile workers in the region, training in modern technologies, and expanding the export potential of Ferghana’s cotton-textile industry to German and broader European markets. It was noted that the scale of bilateral cooperation in these areas is rapidly growing.

Silvia Jungbauer, General Director of Gesamtmasche, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and noted that the project developed during her visit to the region in October 2022 has since been refined and is delivering positive results.

She emphasized that Uzbekistan, particularly the Ferghana Region, is regarded in Germany as a reliable partner, and many German entrepreneurs are showing interest in investing in new joint projects. Efforts are underway to attract additional German partners to the region.

Governor Bozorov highlighted the importance of the textile industry in creating employment opportunities for women and reaffirmed his commitment to fully supporting new initiatives in this sector.

Following the meeting, both sides agreed to develop joint measures to attract German entrepreneurs to Ferghana and further expand cooperation.
