Ferghana Refinery Launches Production of Jet A1 Fuel with Synthetic Component from Uzbekistan GTL

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Ferghana Oil Refinery has begun mass production of Jet A1 aviation fuel blended with a synthetic kerosene component produced by Uzbekistan GTL.

The project is being implemented by Saneg JetWhites, which developed a phased introduction plan and carried out the necessary technological approvals in cooperation with the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas.

Following successful testing of samples and positive expert evaluations, Uzbekistan’s aviation authority, Uzaviatsiya, officially approved the use of the new fuel in civil aviation.

The semi-synthetic Jet A1 consists of 40% synthetic and 60% traditional components, offering improved combustion quality, enhanced thermo-oxidative stability, and full compliance with international standards. As a result, Uzbekistan’s domestic supply of aviation kerosene is expected to rise from 40–50% to 70–80%, reducing reliance on imports.

According to Azizbek Gayupov, Director of Saneg JetWhites, the launch of semi-synthetic Jet A1 production marks a key milestone in strengthening Uzbekistan’s fuel security. In its initial phase, the refinery plans to produce up to 10,000 tons per month, with output later increasing to 20,000–25,000 tons.
