Etisalat expresses interest in investing in Uzbekistan’s telecommunications infrastructure
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 13 May of this year, a meeting was held between the Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, and a delegation from the company "e&" (Etisalat) from the UAE, led by Vice President Jasim Abdullah.
Founded in 1976, "e&" currently operates in 38 countries. The company’s headquarters is located in Abu Dhabi. It has 189.3 million subscribers, employs over 40,000 people, and has assets totaling US$49.8 billion.
During the meeting, the prospects of joint projects for the development of telecommunications and digital infrastructure in Uzbekistan were discussed. Opportunities for investment in telecommunications companies, as well as the joint deployment of data centers and investment in digital infrastructure, were considered.
Representatives of "e&" highly praised the economic reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan, the liberalization of the telecommunications market, and the favorable conditions being created for foreign investors.
As a result of the meeting, agreements were reached on taking practical steps to implement the discussed projects.
