Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan announced the completion of investigations into several corruption crimes.

An officer of the Internal Affairs Department of Bukhara region, exploiting connections with influential individuals, demanded a bribe of 13,000 US dollars to facilitate the closure of part of a criminal case under the jurisdiction of the investigative division of the Coordination Department of Internal Affairs of Bukhara city. During a joint operation by the State Security Service of Bukhara region, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the prosecutor’s office, the perpetrator was detained while receiving the full amount, with material evidence seized.

Additionally, the deputy commander of the security department of the Main Directorate of Internal Affairs of Tashkent region, together with accomplices, abused his position by demanding 1,500 US dollars for employing a citizen of Akkurgan district in the security department. During an operational action conducted by the State Security Service of Tashkent region and the prosecutor’s office, the suspect was detained while receiving part of the bribe—1,000 US dollars.

Furthermore, a senior inspector of the passport and visa department at Tashkent International Airport was caught accepting a bribe of 400 US dollars for expedited processing of an accompanying person’s stamp in the biometric passport of a minor traveling abroad.
