Death Toll from Earthquake in Afghanistan Reaches 622
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The number of people killed in the earthquake in Afghanistan has reached 622, with around 1,500 more injured, Reuters reports.
Rescue teams continue to clear debris and evacuate survivors to safe areas. According to local authorities, many people remain trapped under the rubble, so the death toll may rise.
The main tremor, measuring a magnitude of 6, occurred approximately 200 kilometers from Kabul and 400 kilometers from Islamabad. The epicenter was at a depth of eight kilometers. Following the main quake, three aftershocks with magnitudes ranging from 4.5 to 5.2 were recorded.
