Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Construction of the Uzbek-Chinese industrial zone "Buyuk Ipak Yuli" has commenced in Almalyk, the press service of the Tashkent regional administration reports.

The project is being implemented in cooperation with Zhejiang Holley Global Industry Development. In late December, Almalyk’s mayor, Kobil Khamdamov, held negotiations in China with Wang Licheng, Chairman of the Board of the parent company Holley Group, to discuss the details of the partnership.

Zoyir Mirzaev, the head of the Tashkent regional administration, recently visited the construction site to inspect progress and issued directives regarding the master plan and the provision of necessary infrastructure.

In the first phase, construction will cover 13 hectares in the Hilol neighborhood. Plans include a two-story exhibition center, a three-story office building, a logistics complex, and manufacturing facilities for small refrigerators and transformers. Over time, the "Buyuk Ipak Yuli" technopark will expand to 227 hectares, accommodating around 100 enterprises specializing in electrical equipment, textiles, construction materials, and pharmaceuticals.

The full implementation of the technopark projects will create over 12,000 jobs. Annual exports are expected to exceed US$120 million, while import-substituting products worth US$80 million will be supplied to the domestic market.

Holley Group first announced its intention to build a technopark in Tashkent region in May last year, focusing on the production of electrical equipment. Prior to that, the company had expressed plans to establish transformer and semiconductor manufacturing in the Angren Free Economic Zone.
