China’s Economic Prospects Take Center Stage at Largest Summer Davos in Years
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The upcoming 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions, commonly known as the Summer Davos Forum, will take place in Tianjin from 24 to 26 June. With 1,800 participants registered from nearly 90 countries—the highest attendance in recent years—the event underscores renewed global attention on China’s economic prospects amid a shifting international environment.
The sizeable turnout comes at a time of considerable uncertainty in the global economy, marked by geopolitical tensions and accelerating technological change. Yet, the forum’s scale and the profile of attendees reflect an enduring belief in China’s market potential and its capacity to drive innovation-led growth. China remains a major contributor to global growth. The country’s sizeable domestic market, comprehensive industrial base, and ongoing push towards green, digital, and intelligent transformation continue to position it as a vital hub for innovation and investment.
This year’s agenda, themed around “Entrepreneurship for a New Era”, addresses key issues including Deciphering the World Economy, Outlook on China, Industries Disrupted, Investing in People and Planet, and New Energy and Materials. Such topics reflect the forum’s interest in exploring the alignment between China’s development path and shared global challenges.
For the host city Tianjin, the event offers a platform to showcase its own economic transition. In recent years, Tianjin has intensified efforts in industrial upgrading, technological innovation, energy conservation, environmental protection, and expanded openness. According to Tianjin’s Vice Mayor Li Wenhai, the forum aims to give both participants and the wider public a more direct understanding of the city’s strong industrial base, strategic geographic advantages, robust infrastructure, and continuously improving business environment. The event will spotlight Tianjin’s breakthrough achievements in high-quality development, technological innovation, and industrial upgrading, offering a microcosm of China’s broader economic ambitions.
On a national level, with a comprehensive industrial system in place, China offers an optimal setting for the latest technological revolution and industrial transformation. The forum is expected to vividly demonstrate China’s achievements in high-quality growth and its dynamic approach to opening up, thereby attracting more foreign enterprises to deepen cooperation and foster mutually beneficial partnerships.
As China accelerates efforts towards high-quality growth and broader global integration, the Summer Davos in Tianjin serves as a barometer for how the world perceives these shifts—and the opportunities and challenges they present.
