Car sales in Uzbekistan rebound after two months of decline

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — April marked a revival in Uzbekistan’s automotive market, particularly in the passenger car segment.

Despite a slight decline in interest in electric vehicles, the market as a whole showed steady growth and a positive trend.

The Center for Economic Research and Reforms of Uzbekistan released an analysis of the automotive market's performance for April of the current year. After two months of declining activity, the vehicle market began to gain momentum again: sales volume increased by 17% compared to March, reaching nearly 90,000 units.

Regional analysis revealed the most significant sales growth in Syrdarya region — up 34%, Tashkent — up 32%, and the Republic of Karakalpakstan — up 29%.

The primary market for passenger cars also demonstrated growth: compared to March, sales rose by 15% to 26,000 vehicles. Sales of new domestically produced cars increased by 4%, reaching 20,500 units.

The segment of new imported passenger cars continued to develop especially actively — sales volume doubled, reaching 5,300 vehicles for the month.

After a slight decline in activity in the secondary market in March, when transaction volumes fell by 2%, the market confidently recovered in April: sales increased by 22% to 52,000 units.

Although electric vehicle sales fell by 10% month-on-month, this segment continues to show stable growth in year-on-year comparison.

Thus, compared to April 2024, electric car sales rose by 37%, indicating sustained consumer interest in environmentally friendly transportation.
