BMB AGRO PLUS: A new stage in the development of advanced agricultural processing
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 20 December 2024, during a meeting with entrepreneurs, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the strategic importance of developing the private sector, stating that business is the backbone of the national economy and that supporting it should become a daily priority for all levels of government.
In this context, BMB HOLDING is actively implementing a comprehensive strategic program to advance the agricultural sector, focusing on the creation of modern clusters for the production and deep processing of fruit and vegetable products as well as medicinal plants. A prominent result of these efforts is the ceremonial launch of the high-tech enterprise BMB AGRO PLUS.
BMB AGRO PLUS marks the final stage of a seven-year agricultural development program by the Holding. The first stage involved contract farming of fruits and vegetables grown on nearly 30,000 hectares of land across six districts of the Jizzakh region.
During the second stage, a logistics bridge was created through the Uzbek-Russian joint venture BMB NRC AGROLOGISTICS, equipped with cold storage facilities totaling 10,000 tons. The sorted produce is either distributed on the domestic market, exported, or sent for further processing at BMB AGRO PLUS.
The total value of this integrated agricultural chain — functioning as a unified ecosystem — amounts to 1.5 trillion soums, making it one of the largest projects not only in Uzbekistan but in the entire Central Asian region.
A key focus of the project is comprehensive quality control — from cultivation to final processing. The enterprise includes greenhouse complexes growing certified seedlings of varieties optimized for deep processing, ensuring consistent quality and high yields.
The investment volume of the project totals US$40.7 million (524 billion soums), of which US$16.6 million was provided by Uzsanoatqurilishbank in the form of credit resources, while US$24.1 million was contributed from the Holding's own funds.
Located on a 10-hectare site, the plant is equipped with cutting-edge technology from leading manufacturers in Belgium, Austria, Italy, Turkey, and China. The facility has an annual processing capacity of up to 120,000 tons of agricultural products. It utilizes state-of-the-art technologies, including shock and acoustic freezing, freeze-drying, dehydration, and the production of purees, jams, tomato paste, and other food items. Cold storage units provide space for over 1,000 tons of finished products.
Given increasing demands for sustainability, the enterprise has integrated renewable energy sources into its operations. Currently, 25% of its electricity needs are met by solar panels, with plans to reach 100% within the next three years.
The facility houses a modern laboratory with imported equipment, ensuring multi-level quality control throughout all stages of processing.
Thanks to its well-organized production processes and compliance with international standards, the plant has received the ISO 22000 certification, attesting to its adherence to international food safety management requirements. All products are certified to meet both national and global standards, facilitating expansion into export markets across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
The project also contributes to the socio-economic development of the region. The launch of BMB AGRO PLUS has created 650 permanent and over 2,000 seasonal jobs, significantly impacting employment among youth and women, while boosting the region’s export potential and foreign currency earnings.
In conclusion, BMB AGRO PLUS is more than just another production facility — it represents a crucial step toward the sustainable development of Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector, strengthening the global presence of domestic brands, and setting a new benchmark in the country’s food industry.
