Belarus and Uzbekistan to Establish Joint Foreign Trade Company

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Belarus and Uzbekistan are working on creating a joint specialized foreign trade company with offices in Minsk and Tashkent.

This was announced by Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade Khurram Teshabayev during the plenary session of the III Belarus-Uzbek Women’s Business Forum, reported by BELTA.

Teshabayev emphasized that Tashkent attaches special importance to strengthening trade and economic ties with Minsk. “Through active, open, and constructive dialogue, cooperation between our countries demonstrates steady growth. Over the past year, collaboration has actively developed across all sectors,” he noted.

The establishment of the new foreign trade structure, along with trade houses featuring permanent showrooms, will accelerate product promotion in both countries’ markets, simplify logistics and customs procedures, and reduce costs for participants in foreign economic activities.

Special attention is being given to agricultural development. Uzbekistan is interested in Belarusian agricultural technologies and solutions, as well as joint projects for processing and exporting agricultural products.

The Deputy Minister highlighted that Uzbekistan has created a favorable investment climate, with promising cooperation areas including mechanical engineering, textile, food, pharmaceutical, and electrical industries, as well as building materials production.

“Our cooperation can be significantly expanded and built on the basis of complementarity and effective partnership. We invite Belarusian companies to establish joint ventures in Uzbekistan producing high value-added goods for subsequent export to South Asian countries. Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India, with a combined population of over 1.5 billion, represent a huge market,” Teshabayev stated.
