A barrier-free pedestrian zone has been completed on Uzbekiston Ovozi Street in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Construction of a new barrier-free pedestrian zone on Uzbekiston Ovozi Street in the center of the capital has been completed, the Tashkent city administration reports.

A comfortable space has been created for pedestrians: an 860-meter road has been reconstructed, a one-kilometer bicycle lane has been installed, and a pedestrian area with a total area of 23,000 square meters has been developed. Durable granite paving, resistant to wear and tear, reduces the risk of slipping and ensures safe movement for all categories of visitors.

Special attention has been paid to landscaping and infrastructure. All existing trees have been preserved, 10 additional trees and 62,000 shrubs have been planted, 1.9 kilometers of irrigation systems have been modernized, and manhole covers have been leveled with the sidewalks.

The renovated street is set to become a modern, accessible, and comfortable recreational space designed with pedestrian safety and convenience in mind.
