Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, Assistant Administrator of the United Nations Development Program, UNDP Regional Director for Europe and the CIS, paid an official visit to Uzbekistan from 14 to 16 June to hold meetings with key national partners to discuss new areas cooperation between UNDP and the Government, as well as reaffirm UNDP’s commitment to support socially oriented, green and sustainable development of Uzbekistan, especially against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As part of the visit, Mirjana Spoljaric Egger met with First Deputy Minister of Employment and Labor Relations Erkin Mukhitdinov, which took place on 16 June 2021 at the Ishga Markhamat Monocenter. The meeting was also attended by donors of joint projects of the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations and UNDP, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Uzbekistan Yoshinori Fujiyama and Minister Counselor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Uzbekistan Vadim Mitrofanov.
During the meeting, the priorities of joint cooperation were discussed and the results of the project of the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations and UNDP "Promotion of youth employment in Uzbekistan", as well as the new project "Adaptation of the skills of the population in the post-pandemic economy of the Ferghana Valley" years in the city of Namangan.
During the talks, First Deputy Minister of Employment and Labor Relations Erkin Mukhitdinov noted that the new project should fully support the reforms implemented by the Government in the field of vocational training and development of skills of the population in the post-pandemic period in the Ferghana Valley.
The event also marked the presentation of skills passports to 14 students of the Ishga Markhamat Monocenter, confirming the skills and competence of graduates who were trained and independently assessed by national experts in the professional training program in accordance with international standards. The total number of graduates of the program was 169 people in 14 competencies.
An excursion to the Ishga Markhamat Monocenter was also organized for the guests of the event, as well as equipment purchased within the framework of the joint project of the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations and UNDP "Promotion of Youth Employment in Uzbekistan" with the financial support of the Japanese government for classes on the assessment of sewing competencies was also demonstrated. clothing, software development and aesthetic cosmetology.
